TOPEKA PHEASANTS FOREVER CHAPTER YOUTH EVENT SEPT. 30
Wingshooting classes and .22 rifle station included in event
TOPEKA — The Topeka Chapter of Pheasants Forever/Quail Forever (PF/QF) will conduct a shooting clinic for novice youth shooters starting at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the group's environmental education area by Perry Reservoir. Youth and their mentors will be treated to a meal followed by an opportunity to shoot at varied clay targets, as well as a .22 rifle station. All youth need to bring a shotgun. The local chapter, in cooperation with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, will provide shells and targets.
This is the event's fourth year, and it's been well-received, especially by those parents who either don't have experience with hunting arms or would like others to coach their youngsters on shooting technique. The PF/QF chapter leases this ground from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for environmental education and has developed trails, bridges, signs, and a wetland. It is used by local schools, groups, and individuals throughout the year.
