Zebra Mussels Are Present in Chase State Fishing Lake. | Chase SFL is an ANS designated water. Zebra mussel veligers (larval zebra mussels) are too small to be seen with the unaided eye and they can be found in boat livewells, minnow buckets, boat bilges, and anything else that is capable of holding even a small amount of water. Be sure to drain all equipment before leaving the lake to avoid moving veligers to other waters. THIS INCLUDES MINNOW BUCKETS AND BOAT LIVEWELLS AND BILGES!!! CLEAN DRAIN & DRY Every Lake, Every Time! | ||
Channel Catfish | Slow | 13 to 20 inches | Harvest regulations include a 15-inch minimum length limit and 5/day creel limit. Shad sides are a great early season bait choice for channel catfish. Stink baits are also good. Channel catfish activity has been slow recently, but should improve as water temperatures rise. |
Largemouth Bass | Slow | 10 - 17 inches | There is a 13 to 18 inch slot limit on Largemouth Bass in effect at the lake. No angler reports available this week. Larger, slow moving baits are great early season choices for bass. Jig and jerk baits fished near cover, piers, and shallow shorelines are good tactics. |
Saugeye | Slow | up to 22 inches | Saugeye can be found on rocky substrates across the lake. Good bait choices include 4 inch flukes fished on 1/8 - 1/4oz jigheads. |
Spotted Bass | Slow | up to 13 inches | Same as largemouth bass report. |
Bluegill | Fair | 5-7 inches | Small jigs or live bait fished a couple feet below a float are good choices. Bluegill can be found along the piers in the rocky and woody cover. |
Crappie | Fair | up to 12 inches | Crappie are still deep in 10 -18 feet of water off the points and breaks or around brush. Jig and plastics or jig and minnows are always good choices for crappie. |
