Fishing Spots

Below is a list of some different fishing spots, with GPS Locations, you might want to try.

East of State Park

    This brushpile is not used as much as some of the others, but can be very productive during low water periods in the fall and winter. It is only 10-12 feet deep at conservation, but typically holds good numbers of crappie in October and November. We found very high numbers of nice crappie around this brushpile while conducting our annual fall sample.

    An additional 25 cedar trees were added to this brushpile in August 2011.

Oak Hill

    The Oak Hill brushpile has been around for approximately 10 years and is a favorite location for many anglers seeking crappie or largemouth bass in the spring. It can also concentrate channel catfish and walleye during the spring and summer and offers a variety of depths, ranging from 6 to 15 feet at conservation pool. A buoy marks this brushpile.

    We most recently beefed this up with the addition of 60 large and medium cedar trees in August 2008.


Cabin Point (south)

    This deep water brushpile was created in August 2006 and consists of 200 medium and large cedar trees anchored with cinder blocks and other weights. At conservation pool, the trees will be from about 10 to 20 feet deep and should be a good location to find crappie throughout the year. In addition, it is located on a sharp dropoff and will concentrate walleye, white bass, and channel catfish. A buoy marks this brushpile.

    An additional 80 cedar trees were added to this brushpile in August 2011.

Cabin Point (north)

    This brushpile consists of 50 large cedar trees. When the reservoir is full, it is in 13-15 feet of water and produces some excellent crappie fishing. Good numbers of largemouth bass and channel catfish may also congregate in this area and anglers can catch a variety of species.

    An additional 25 cedar trees were added to this brushpile in August 2011.

Office Cove

    This is one of the shallower brush piles in the lake and is only refurbished every 3-4 years. There are normally flathead catfish hanging out in this area throughout the summer and crappie will concentrate here in the spring and fall. This pile will be 8-10 feet deep at conservation.

    We recently upgraded this attractor with 25 cedar trees in August 2011.


Marina Cove Point

    This brushpile has been around for several years and is popular among the shoreline anglers due to its location off the rip rap. During the spring, the brush will be in 10-12 feet of water and can offer some excellent crappie fishing. Largemouth bass also congregate here during the spawning period and early summer.

Marina Cove

    One of the more popular brushpiles on the reservoir when water levels are up. A buoy marks this fish attractor located straight north of the marina boat ramp in 11-12 feet of water. This is an older brushpile with approximately 90 cedar trees and can provide some excellent crappie fishing in April and May when the fish are spawning. Channel catfish also congregate around this area throughout the summer. We will attempt to add to this fish attractor every other year.

Cedar Point

    This is a deep water brushpile (20-25 feet) consisting of approximately 200-250 cedar trees anchored with cement blocks located just south of the boat ramp. The brushpile is very popular for crappie anglers and can produce some excellent fishing during the fall and winter. Decent catches of walleye and wipers can also be found here during the spring and early summer. We will attempt to maintain this brushpile each year.
