The NWTF event will be the first of its kind at Fancy Creek Range and is co-sponsored by the Kansas State and Three Rivers chapters of NWTF. Plans are being made to bring more NWTF events to the range. For more information regarding the shoot, phone John Adams at 785-539-1586.
The Fancy Creek Range is located east of U.S. Highway 77 at the city of Randolph. The range opened in September of 2002 and has been a popular attraction. Since the early 1990s, it was apparent that there was a need for a safe, supervised public firearms shooting range in the Manhattan area. The Fancy Creek Range was built with this in mind and was a cooperative effort of the Riley County Fish and Game Association, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, and U. S. Army Corps of Engineers .
The range is available for target firearms shooting at 25 meters, 50 meters, and 100 meters but is only open to the public when trained range officers are present. Open days are the first and third full weekends of each month and the fourth Thursday of the month from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The range is available for other special events upon request.
Non-member cost to use the range is $10 per day or $75 per year. Another payment option is to become a range member. Range members pay $35 per year and $4 per day. All fees go directly to maintain the range. Range masters and range operations are provided by the Friends of Fancy Creek Range. To become a member of the Friends Group contact the park office at 785-539-7941.
