OUTDOOR WRITERS OF KANSAS BENEFIT AUCTION MAY 8
Proceeds help send kids to the Kansas Wildlife Federation Outdoor Adventure Camp
EL DORADO -- The Outdoor Writers of Kansas (OWK) will hold its annual auction in El Dorado on Monday, May 8. The auction will start at 7 p.m. at the El Dorado Civic Center, 201 E. Central.
A long list of outdoor products have been donated for the auction and will be sold to the highest bidders. Hunters, anglers and outdoor lovers shouldn’t miss this opportunity for bargains on items such as an Eagle Fishmark 320 sonar unit, B’n’M crappie rods, Bass Pro Shops turkey outfits, turkey calls, turkey decoys, Bushnell binoculars, Bolle sunglasses, Douglas Quikut bait aerators, Gamakatsu hooks, Buck Knives, a Realtree rainsuit, Heatmax HotHands handwarmers, an Eagle Claw rod and reel, a Remington over/under shotgun, Coleman Company outdoor products, and much more.
All of the money raised will help send youth to the Kansas Wildlife Federation’s Outdoor Adventure Camp in June. The week-long camp is held at the Rock Springs 4-H Center near Junction City. The cost is $215 for each youngster, and OWK works with Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters to send 10 kids ages 10-12 who have in interest in the outdoors. Learning sessions at the outdoor camp include “Mammalogy," "Reptiles and Amphibians," "Fish Management," "Wildlife Management," "Wetlands," "Birds," and "Stream Ecology.” There is also a fishing tournament, horseback riding, and nighttime owl watches.
OWK membership includes writers, photographers, and artists who cover fishing, hunting, and outdoor-related subjects in the print, radio, and television media. The Monday evening auction is part of OWK’s 2006 spring conference, hosted by the El Dorado Convention and Visitors Bureau.
