OK KIDS ACTIVITIES AT TUTTLE CREEK STATE PARK AUG. 23-24

Free Park Entrance Days add savings to fun and games

MANHATTAN -- The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is hosting OK Kids Day on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 23-24, at Tuttle Creek State Park's River Pond area. This is the perfect opportunity to get kids off the couch and outdoors for two days of fun and games, and the activities are free.

In fact, the weekend is Free Park Entrance Days at Tuttle Creek, so entry into the park is free of charge. (Camping and other fees still apply.)

Activities planned for the weekend include supervised BB gun shooting, a personal watercraft simulator, a sand-castle contest, a car show, instruction on fly casting, a tricycle obstacle course, a three-point carving vehicle demonstration (Trikke), canoe races, and archery shooting. The weekend will also include a water slide, blow-up bouncing castle, face painting, balloon contests, and an RV show.

The event is sponsored by Tuttle Creek State Park, Friends of Tuttle Creek State Park, and Kansas Wildscape. For more information, phone the state park office, 785-539-7941.
