JOHNSON COUNTY DU SPORTSMAN’S NIGHT OUT SEPT. 24
Raffle, auction, dinner to raise money for wetland conservation
OLATHE — On Thursday, Sept. 24, the Johnson County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited (DU) will sponsor its annual Sportsman's Night Out, a fundraiser for the wetland conservation organization. The event will take place at 5 p.m. at Bass Pro Shops, 12051 S. Renner Blvd. in Olathe. The event is for all who enjoy the outdoors and would like to conserve wildlife habitat and the hunting and fishing heritage.
More than 130 items will be raffled or auctioned, including hunting, fishing, and camping equipment, as well as 13 guns. Tickets are $30 in advance. (There will be no ticket sales at the door.) The $30 ticket includes a one-year membership to Ducks Unlimited, a DU Magazine subscription, a light dinner, and a beverage. Every participant dressed in camouflage or blaze orange will receive a raffle ticket for one of the guns.
Proceeds raised at this and other DU events support DU’s conservation programs that provide critical habitat for ducks, turkey, deer, and fish. There are prizes and raffle items from the finest brands in hunting, fishing, and outdoor equipment. Items include a deer rifle, a bow, tree stands, optics, knives, game cleaning kits, and trail cameras.
For the fisherman, a G3 boat and trailer, rod/reel combinations, tackle, tackle boxes, and portable fish finders will be offered. And for the waterfowler, guns, goose and duck decoys, layout blinds, bags, and calls will be up for bid. Turkey and upland game hunters will have the opportunity to bid on guns, vests, calls, shooting glasses, boots, and chaps.
Raffles items include a jon boat, high-end guns, and a bow. A silent auction will include hunting trips and puppies. Those who register early have the option of purchasing $50, $100, and $200 packages of raffle tickets before the event.
