CHILI COOK-OFF AND 3D ARCHERY SHOOT AT LOVEWELL STATE PARK SEPT. 12
Prizes awarded for top three winners in each event
MANKATO — Lovewell State Park is sponsoring its final special event of the season, a chili cook-off and 3-D archery shoot, on Sunday, Sept. 12. The 3-D Archery Shoot will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants will compete in divisions for men, women, and youth. A $10 donation is suggested to enter. A “steel deer” competition will begin at noon, with a $5 donation suggested to participate. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second-, and third-place shooters overall.
A chili cook-off contest will be held at the Pioneer Day Use area. Chefs must register by 10 a.m. at the park office. The first 100 people who contribute a $5 donation for a taste testing ticket will be appointed official judges. Judging tickets will be available at the cook-off area beginning at 12:30 p.m., and judging will run from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Additional samples will be available, depending on availability of food entries. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second-, and third-place entries by popular vote.
