Celebrate the Fourth at a Kansas State Park

PRATT – If you’re still looking for the ultimate family-friendly location to spend the Fourth of July Holiday, consider visiting your local Kansas state park. With great views, access to water, and eye-catching fireworks displays, Kansas state parks are the perfect answer for a fun and memorable holiday this year. All Kansas state park Fourth of July events are held free of charge, however a vehicle park permit is required to enter parks. Visitors are encouraged to call a state park office for specifics on events, fireworks restrictions and rules prior to traveling.

Here are just a few examples of where you can let freedom ring this Saturday:

JULY 2

CRAWFORD STATE PARK: “Old Fashion Independence Day Celebration” cookout at 5 p.m., followed by live music. Fireworks display over the lake at dusk.

JULY 3

WILSON STATE PARK: Fireworks display at dusk. (Personal fireworks are prohibited in the state park area).

CROSS TIMBERS STATE PARK: Toronto Days

JULY 4

GLEN ELDER STATE PARK: Fireworks display at dusk. Rain date will be July 5. Glen Elder AmeriCorps staff will be accepting donations of canned food items for the local food pantry.

PRAIRIE DOG STATE PARK: 7 a.m. - 5K run, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Norton Chamber BBQ, 8 p.m. - Watermelon feed, 8:30 p.m.- Flag ceremony, and a fireworks display at dusk.

KANOPOLIS STATE PARK: Fireworks display at 10 p.m. Best seats in the house for the fireworks are from your boat out on the lake. First rain date is July 5, second rain date is July 11.

JULY 5
