Sailing Classes Taking Place In June And July

PRATT – There is one good thing about Kansas wind: it’s perfect for sailing. Think you might like to give it a try? An organization right here in Kansas is ready to make this summer bucket list item a reality for anyone interested – the Ninnescah Sailing Association (NSA) at Cheney State Park. NSA members are gearing up to teach several “Learning To Sail” courses this summer, designed to introduce students to the joys of sailing. Courses are open to members and non-members, and the program is led by experienced, certified U.S. sailing instructors, so you know you and your loved ones will be in good hands. Instructors will share their knowledge of basic boat-handling skills, sailing terminology, watercraft safety, knot tying and more. And of course, plenty of time will be spent on the water.

Participants age 18 or older can choose between courses beginning June 19 or July 17, or take a Basic Keelboat course August 11. Youth can choose between camps offered July 9-13 or July 23-27.

Adult courses are $250 per non-member, and $195 for NSA members. Youth courses are $150 for non-members, and $125 for NSA members. The Basic Keelboat class is $125 for non-members and $75 for NSA members. Course fees include the use of life jackets and sailboats, course materials, and safety equipment.
