Fun In The Sun At Lovewell State Park
WEBBER – Lovewell State Park is hosting its annual Lovewell Fun Day on Saturday, August 4, 2018. It’s a great day to enjoy the state park, as well as a variety of outdoor activities in a family-friendly atmosphere. Lovewell State Park sprawls along the shoreline of Lovewell Reservoir in northcentral Kansas’ Jewell County.
The Fun Day events begin Saturday with a Kayak Kruze at 8 a.m. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. at the Beach Group Shelter. Bring your own canoe, kayak or paddleboard, and life jackets. This will be a fun paddle, tracing the Lovewell State Park shoreline.
A new event this year is the three-on-three basketball tournament, which will be conducted at the new basketball goals at Pioneer Day Use area (playground). The double-elimination tournament will start at 9 a.m. and will include a youth division (14 and under) and an adult division (15 and up). Pre-registration is required by Thursday, August 2, 2018.
The co-ed mud volleyball tournament begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and has an eight-team limit. Entry is $20 for the double-elimination event, and teams should pre-register at the Lovewell State Park office by Thursday, August 2.
The Pioneer Day Use area (playground) will be the site of a Sandpile Treasure Hunt for kids 10 and under. This fun event will begin at 11 a.m.
