The Community Fisheries Assistance Program (CFAP) improves fishing opportunities at community lakes.
The state leases the fishing rights from over two hundred community lakes statewide. In conjunction with this program, more than 90% of the community lakes in the state provide free fishing access to anglers holding a Kansas State Fishing License! So when you see the CFAP logo at the entrance of your favorite community lake, head on in and wet your lines!

Using funds derived from excise taxes on fishing equipment via Sport Fish Restoration program, KDWP recently began offering to replace past yearly revenues to community lakes which had been charging access fees to anglers.
In return, participating lakes are waiving any access fees previously charged to anglers to fish from the shore or a boat.
