2019 Updates
The Camping season is upon us. With Memorial day right around the corner we want to assure everyone that the recent rains have not effected camping at Crawford State Park. The new boat ramp facility is open, crews have finished cleaning storm debris from last week leaving campsites ready for weekend arrivals, and the swim beach is ready for sunny days. We are fully booked on utility sites for Memorial Day weekend, but we do have several primitive sites still available. You can always make a reservation or check availability by calling the office at (620-362-3671).
Some other dates to think about for this summer:
The 4th of July event will be held on the 2nd here at the lake. Live music at the Marina will start at 6:30 p.m. and go until around 8, The friends group will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs like always, and the fireworks display will start at dusk. Be sure to come early if you want to get a good seat, the beach area fills up quickly.
We're always busy for Labor Day, so you'll want to make your reservations before we fill up.
The Annual Chili Cook-Off will be on the second to last weekend in September, on the 21st. And is always a great weekend to get out at the end of the season before it starts getting cold.
If you have any questions you can always contact us at the office (620-362-3671) and for updates and weekend announcements be sure to follow our facebook page just search @CrawfordStateParkKS
All of us here at Crawford State Park are looking forward to another great summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone out at the Lake.
Rich in history and spectacular scenery, Crawford State Park has a flavor all its own. This southeast Kansas treasure, located 9 miles north of Girard in Crawford County, resides on a 150-acre lake built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930’s. The park dedicated the CCC Memorial Trail in 2005 to the CCC members who built the lake.
This trail hosts a National CCC Alumni Foundation Statue and items of historical importance honoring their achievement.
There are two recorded archaeological sites within the park’s boundaries, including remnants of a 19th-century U.S. military outpost. An interpretive trail, Deer Run Trail, connects the park with the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks’ Farlington Fish Hatchery, which was built shortly after the CCC completed construction of the lake.
