Paola, Kan., – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Hillsdale Lake will be conducting a periodic dam inspection on March 23-27. The outlet area located below the dam will be closed to the public. The area will be restricted due to safety concerns and the need to complete the inspection in a timely manner to reduce cost.
Structural, mechanical, electrical and geotechnical engineers will be doing a complete inspection of the dam and its operating features. The inspection is completed every five to 10 years and involves a complete inspection of the dam, the outlet area and the emergency spillway.
